Functional Literacy

You explain the concept of functional literacy very clearly and with good understanding of its fundamental meaning. You really do pin that down. Functional literacy is really just being able to function in a particular environment. For a professor to function, a high level of literacy is required. This "functional literacy" term, however, has absorbed the connotation of low levels of literacy. You've pretty well understood that.
There are some language errors in your essay that could easily be edited for a smoother, more polished prose style. If you want me to point them out to you, just come to see me in my office and we can go over your paper. I don't want to get into editing student writing in a graduate class, but I will be glad to show you how you can edit your own writing.
